Dr. Jared Hanson N.D., L.Ac. is an acupuncturist in New York City as well as a doctor of naturopathic medicine in Manhattan specializing in the treatment of chronic diseases with acupuncture and Chinese medicine. To make an appointment, please call 917-607-5035 or email drjaredhanson@gmail.com. As a New York acupuncturist, Dr. Hanson practices Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) which has been a predominant medical system in Asia for thousands of years. The underlying principle of TCM is that health is balance and that disease can only be healed by restoring balance. When the relationships between energy and substance, heat and cold, interiority and exteriority, or yin and yang (the fundamental duality of all things) become disordered, ill health and disease result. The tools Dr. Hanson uses as a New York City acupuncturist to address these imbalances may include herbal formulas, acupuncture, moxibustion (the application of heat), dietary therapy, qi gong (therapeutic exercise), tui na (therapeutic massage), or other physical therapies such as cupping or scraping. Some concepts in TCM are completely foreign to Western medicine. One of these is qi, the fundamental energy that flows throughout the body along pathways called meridians. Acupuncturists believe our health can become out of balance if qi becomes deficient or stagnant. To correct this imbalance, Dr. Hanson, acupuncturist NYC, will insert very fine sterile needles into specific points on the body. These needles influence the flow of qi throughout your body, restoring balance to the flow of energy and improving health. Acupuncture works by regulating a patient’s qi, supplementing it if the qi is deficient and dispersing it if qi has become stagnant, depending on where the acupuncturist places the needles. According to Traditional Chinese Medicine, the fundamental energy qi flows through specific channels in your body called meridians. Each meridian is connected to specific organs as well as to other meridians. By taking your pulse, looking at your tongue and considering your health history, Dr. Hanson, acupuncturist in New York, will determine which organs or meridians have too much or too little qi and inserts acupuncture needles into specific points to balance the energy in that organ or meridian. The needles acupuncturists use are much smaller than the needles used to take blood or give shots. Patients generally feel very relaxed during and after an acupuncture treatment To find out how acupuncture in Manhattan can help you, call 917-607-5035 for a free 15 minute phone consultation! |
