Acupuncture Point: Lung 7

Alternative Medicine and Natural Health in NYC

Lung 7, also known as LieQue or Broken Sequence, is located on the thumb side of the forearm close to, but not on, the wrist. In acupuncture theory, it is known as the Command point of the head and neck and it is often used to treat conditions in this area, such as neck pain or stiffness, headache, and even lockjaw.

Lung 7 is also an important point to treat Wind. Wind is a special concept in Chinese Medical theory and it can be either interior or exterior. Colds and flus are considered an invasion of exterior Wind and so Lung 7 is often incorporated into the treatment of these. Wind can also be produced internally and in these cases is characterized by constant movement. Internal wind often characterizes neurological conditions such as facial paralysis and epilepsy. Lung 7 is used for these conditions.

As a point on the Lung channel, Lung 7 has a profound effect on Lung pathologies such as cough, shortness of breath and asthma.

Lung 7 plays an important role in the treatment of mental or emotional conditions. There is no division of mind and body in Chinese medicine. Mental or psychological conditions are treated according to their relationship to Organ functions. Lung 7 is particularly indicated in conditions related to fright and in poor memory.
